About

Kate Nicholas is preacher, Christian author and speaker with 30 years experience as a national current affairs journalist and magazine editor. Formerly editor-in-chief of PRWeek, Kate has written for titles such as The Independent, The Observer and Business Life and was a regular commentator on BBC, ITV, Sky and Channel 4 news programmes. She was also global communications chief for the Christian charity World Vision before a diagnosis of advanced breast cancer changed her life.

While going through chemotherapy, surgery and radiotherapy, she wrote her best-selling memoir Sea Changed, an account of her unconventional journey of faith and healing. Kate orignally wrote her 'soul story' as a legacy for her children, she wanted them to know how much God loved her and had stood by her all her life, even as she faced potentially leaving them. But during the darkest days of her illness, God gave Kate a passage from Psalm 118:7 'I will not die but will live and declare the works of God’ and when, against all odds, she survived this became the mission of her life.

Kate has gone on to share her message of hope through her TV series Living A Transformed Life on premiere Christian TV channel TBN, speaking events, online courses and bible studies. Her book include Sea Changed: A Companion Guide for individuals and groups which helps people to see how God uses all the circumstances of their lives to transform them; Soul’s Scribe  -  a guide to understanding and sharing your soul story.  She also runs an online course Write Your Soul Story for those who want to write their own Christian memoir or autobiography.   Her latest book To The Ocean Floor: A Second Cancer Journey and a Gateway to a Profound Connection with God (is winner of the 2024 CRT award for Audiobook of the Year, and was shortlised as Biography of the Year).

Kate has also self-published a children's fantasy novella Wife of the Wind, proceeds for which are donated to Breast Cancer Care.  She is also preaches at the Amazing Grace church of St Peter and St Paul, Olney, Buckinghamshire and is on the Board of Christians Against Poverty.
